communal_creators is a comm for creative people of ALL stripes to come, encourage one another, and be encouraged.

The comm runs a mini-round in March and a larger 30 day one in September/October (feel free to browse our last rounds). There is an associated low-key Discord and an optional collection hosted on SquidgeWorld.

We will be hosting our second full round, from September 15th to October 14th, with provisions made to accommodate holidays in that period. Our sign ups are open up to the 15th.

What kind of activity counts? Archiving creative endeavors on other platforms, podfic, vidding, fiber crafts, art, writing fic or meta... if you count it as creative effort, we will too.

Members are encouraged to drop links of useful content on the main topic pages, to be added to the lists as the mod (me) can do so. (Often once a week, when new material is available.)

gluten_free is a cooking community where you can share recipes you've tried, request recipes you'd like to try, ask for cooking and baking advice, share substitution tricks, post cookbook reviews, and recommend gluten-free products and ingredients.

weekly_food_challenge is a comm in which members are challenged, weekly, on a Wednesday, to cook a thing.

It might be to cook a thing using a particular ingredient, or from a particular cuisine, or using a particular dietary restriction, or any number of other things. Recent challenges have included:

Cook something using sweet potatoes
Cook something from a cookbook that came with an appliance or kitchen gadget
Fry something
Cook something using festive leftovers

This week's challenge is an easy jumping on point, I think: cook something from a recipe given to you by a loved one.

We are a small but friendly comm and we welcome new people. We like to discuss with each other the interesting differences between cultural cooking norms (for example the American cook-by-volume vs the British cook-by-weight methods, or differing ingredient availabilities, things like that).

Every challenge is completable by vegetarians, although meat is allowed too. Come and join us!

Hello! I have recently created a new comm for people who are interested in bartering/trading homemade and handmade items with others. This is not a community for buying and selling, but for bartering/trading only.

dinnerparty: A recipe exchange with a spin

The Dinner Party is a bimonthly recipe exchange run much like fanwork exchanges. Each exchange has a theme, participants are matched & prepare a menu for one another with recipes, stories, photos, music or whatever they'd like, to suit the theme.

The theme for January/February is "Dinner with Friends." Sign-ups for the first exchange are open through January 21.

Hi all, not posted here in some time but I would like to pimp out two new communities!

First up we have

theoldbluebox, which I co-maintain with a friend. We're both quite unhappy with the changes at LJ and the way that communities are being affected, and so we've imported it here to Dreamwidth! Here you can share all Doctor Who-related news, pictures, macros and squee (which reminds me; I really must post a picture of the Adipose stress toy I recieved for Christmas)! We are also looking to be affilliated with some of the other Doctor Who communites out there, as long as the maintainers are nice, and not giant Vampire Fish or something!

Do you enjoy pickling and preserving home-grown produce, or taking those leftover onions and turning them into a wonderful onion and rosemary jam? I noticed a distinct lack of communities for creative homemakers and cooks, and so I bring you

literaryicons is a place to submit and request text icons based on works of literature, especially those that don't have television shows and movies based on them. It can be hard to express your love for a fandom that doesn't have pretty pictures and hot actors/actresses! I'm working on some Lois McMaster Bujold icons now.

newgotham is a community for people in, around, and traveling to Chicago. I've been trying to post links to free festivals and gatherings, reviews of cool businesses and places, and bits of Chicago history.

singleserving is a cooking community for small batch cooking. Live alone? Have a small kitchen? Just starting out? Jump in here! Post recipes, experiences, and requests. I did a post on potatoes that a lot of folks found helpful, and I'm going to do a write up on rice next. I started this community to fulfill a request, but honestly I'm more used to large batch cooking, so I'd really love if more people were posting recipes and tips.
