The second round of the Tokusatsu Ficathon has been currently underway, moving from my personal journal to it's own dedicated community for this round and future rounds:

tokuficathon. This is a ficathon welcome to all tokusatsu series and films. From Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Power Rangers, Ultraman, Metal Heroes, Kaiju, and even the most obscure Showa-Era toku out there you can think of. If it's in the tokusatsu genre, it's welcome here!

This round is running until May 31st. After May 31st the prompting period will be over, but you are still welcome to fill any prompts that have been left here during the round after that. You can subscribe to the comm for future updates of when the next round(s) will be too.

Because all ratings are welcomed, this event is 18+ only and is why it has the adult content tag for this post.

the_scent_of_lilacs, a freshly formed comm for all things Nosferatu!

It came to life in the wake of Robert Egger’s 2024 movie Nosferatu, and while this great piece of cinematography is indeed the seedling we’re welcoming discussion and workings on other manifestations of the Dracula narrative here. In fact we’re encouraging this! Anything related to undead counts, their more or less fair maidens and their manifold relationships with each other and other people is definitely game. ♥

movieclub is a community where we nominate and discuss films centered around monthly themes. The theme for March is musicals, and we're currently taking recommendations before preparing for voting. Anyone is welcome to join, and we'll be voting on this month's films on March 6.

We host watch-alongs on Discord for each film on Saturdays at 6:45 pm ET. Joining the watch-along is not mandatory, but it's fun to watch and comment with the group!

movieclub is similar to a book club, but instead of reading, we watch and discuss. Watch-alongs are hosted on Discord, and anyone interested in joining can ask to join! (to avoid spam, the Discord link will not be publicly posted). Each month, there will be a theme and members can submit recommendations to go with a theme. Please do not recommend more than 3 movies per month! Then, after the recommendation period has ended, the group will vote on which movies will make the cut for the month. Expect around 2-4 movies per month.

Watch-alongs are Fridays starting at 6:45 pm ET unless stated otherwise. There is no obligation to join, but if you do come, expect to chat with the group over messenger. No voice calls will be used and all films watched together will have English captioning.

After watching, a discussion post will be created to chat about the film. General shitshooting and shitposting is allowed! This is just a space for people who like film and like to talk to others about film, so nothing formal is expected. However, in-depth reviews are more than welcome!

You grab a table of prompts and go at your own pace. This is meant to be fun, as well as a good way to flex those storytelling muscles through making some drabbles! There is a dedicated Ao3 collection as well for posting & crossposting too.

All types of drabbles are welcome. Gen, M/M, F/F, M/F, Multi, etc! All ratings welcome too. Because all ratings are welcome, this event is 18+ only.

All types of Tokusatsu from across the genre are welcome too. From Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Garo, Metal Heroes, Power Rangers, Ultraman, etc. If it's in the Toku genre, it's welcome.
