This has been an annual thing since 2011 and great for toning those drawing skills, sweating buckets trying to make the deadline, stimulating brain function trying to twist those story prompts into something a neophyte can draw, kicking the skilled out of their comfort zone and seeing what the scores of other artists have come up with.

This is the Newbie Artist Training Grounds of the My Little Pony fandom, rebroadcast here on Dreamwidth in the ponyville_trot community and running for the entire month of June. Don't worry about your skill level, all skill levels are fine, even stick figure ponies. All visual media is cool too, photography, blender 3-D, clay, papercraft, crochet, animation, collage... Go for it! Even if you don't have time or the equipment to draw or upload an image, you are still welcome to drop by and browse the galleries (I post links) and see the ones I particularly liked. Or repost your favorites! It's a community, not my blog.

The ride doesn't stop there. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic spawns fan fictions, music, games and conventions as well as visual arts, all year round. There is also the toy company's post apocalyptic refresh of the franchise coming this September, which, might be good? I hope? Tune in to find out!

Dreamwidth has a community dedicated to all things My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and that community is ponyville_trot. Since 2011 it has been the place to go for episode links and discussion and a showcase for art, music, news and more. After nine seasons, the Friendship is Magic aspect of My Little Pony animation has come to an end, but it lives on in comics, fan fiction, music, art, games and fan conferences.

ponyville_trot is also a resource. There is a variety of links in the community sticky, including sites that print and sell MLP:FiM fanfiction in dead-tree format. The tags ease pulling up posts by interest. There is Princess tier art to see and music. Much music, of nearly all genres, except maybe death metal, opera, Gregorian chant and all percussion. (Not that there isn't any death metal to choose from, it's just that the singing is... off.) Each song usually includes a download link.

ponyville_trot has a lot of members but it needs more contributors! I'm sifting through years of music to find and post the gems and I pass along artworks that catch my eye as well, but there is so much more than should get shared. Such as fan fiction, photography, games and craft-works. Please join! Bring your ideas! Report and review pony-inspired fan-works! Share your own!

The My Little Pony brand is evolving into something called "Pony Life". It looks goofy, but hopefully it will be worthwhile. We'll find out in early 2020 and of course there will be links on ponyville_trot.

We are three months into the break between the end of Season 7 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and the first episode of Season 8. Season 8 should start on March 31st. In the meantime, on Dreamwidth there is the ponyville_trot community.

ponyville_trot does not go dormant when the curtain falls on the latest season. There is artwork to see, music to sample and anything My Little Pony related that you would like to share. Bring pictures of your pony toys (any generation), bring your comics, your stories, your news and your creations.

ponyville_trot is one of the oldest and most active communities on Dreamwidth. I created it in 2011 because I wanted a Friendship is Magic community on Dreamwidth and I've been posting in it ever since then. I've been filling it with what I feel is the best art and music the fandom has to offer. When the episodes air, I post useful links.


So please join! Add ponyville_trot to your reading list and you will have a little pony eye-candy to brighten it up, even during these long winter months. It will be magic. ^_^

July 25 marks three years since I started ponyville_trot, the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic community. It is still the one and only active MLP community on Dreamwidth. It is also the best MLP community on Dreamwidth. Like the Journal of Friendship, it is not a personal blog, it is a community where all can post news, activity, art... anything related to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. And because the Brony fandom is such a hive of activity, there is a lot to post about and there is something for everyone to enjoy. Since I like art and music and I post many times a week, there are nearly 500 examples of the best art ever and over 70 posts dedicated to music selected from literally thousands of tracks. And there is so much more -- craftwork, story telling, gaming, cosplay, photography, animation, meet-ups... all these things that have been sparked by a world populated with magical colourful ponies.

Each one of us has something special which makes us different, which makes us shine. So come share the light that shines within you, because when we come together...

One year ago today, ponyville_trot was created. It is the place to go for My Little Pony Friendship is Magic on DreamWidth. There are other MLP fan-communities on Dreamwidth, such as canterlot and mlp, which are sadly neglected, but, as Celestia as my witness, ponyville_trot shall not suffer the same fate! (Give them some love too! They're not building themselves.)

You know what this calls for? A party!

I'm taking advantage of the posting amnesty and the surge in the DreamWidth population to promote two communities that are near and dear to my heart.

First there is ponyville_trot, a community I created last summer to fullfill my burning desire to have a My Little Pony Friendship is Magic community here on Dreamwidth. Although I have been making most of the posts since its inception, it is a community, not my private journal, open to all fans of MLP:FIM, be they bronies pure and simple, or fans of all generations of My Little Ponies. It has grown to become the largest My Little Pony community on DreamWidth. All members are encouraged and welcome to contribute posts, but I do my best to have something new to post every day and I have worked on the tags so you won't have to hunt through all 183 journal entries to find the few similar ones you would like to consult together. 8^)

My other ray of sunshine is my ZeFrank's Scribbler community, the_scribbler. I'm actually surprised we have three members! I created this community two years ago and I've posted two dozen times so far, but I've let my productivity lapse in the art department. I would love to see other people post their Scribbler art!

Season two of the awesome series My Little Pony Friendship is Magic is almost upon us. Are you excited? I'm excited. I've never been so excited. Except that time when I saw how excited everyone was for MLP:FIM and everything that I could hardly think straight or eat...

So I made a community, right here on Dreamwidth, for Friendship is Magic. Because there wasn't one and I wanted one. And I had 100 days of prompts just waiting to fly. Like 21 days for DreamWidth? This is 100 Days for My Little Pony. We're already 51 days in and all we need is you to come join us at ponyville_trot to share your views, news, things to amuse, stuff-you-drew's and what-have-you's.

In 51 days we've gone from population = 1 to population = 62. We've compiled 67 journal entries, we have 11 tags, 317 comments and the last post went up 2 hours ago (it's a link to a YouTube clip from episode 1 of season two, so it's a spooooilerrrr and I didn't peek -- my will is strong 8^D).

The best thing? Season two starts on Saturday! And there's a community for that, right here, right now. ponyville_trot

Consider yourself invited to ponyville_trot. It's a community I created today for My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, of which I am an avid fan. If there is one thing that Dreamwidth has been sorely lacking, it's a My Little Pony Friendship is Magic community. I've been wanting to start one, and I have 100 days of prompts to feed into it, but deciding on a name took a while. Ponyville Trot sounds like a newspaper, so that will do.
