Interested in zines? Come check out makezines -- a community for, well, making zines. We want to make zines, and we want to encourage others to make zines!
With a bit of writing, a bit of doodling or collage -- physical or digital -- and a bit of scanning or photocopying or printing, anyone can make a zine.
And that's awesome!
We want to encourage making and swapping and sharing zines of all sorts!
creativegolf is a new community for creatives of all kinds modeled after the game 9 card golf. Players are given randomized "decks" based off prompt lists and the goal of the game is to complete a column of 3 fills with all works in each column given the same theme. Playing for points is entirely optional but hopefully fun! Come check us out.
Description: Created in the wake of NaNoWriMo's recent embrace, and ableist and racist defense, of Generative A.I., storywrights is a community dedicated to the building of plot, rather than simply throwing words on the page as fast as you can. Its "Main Event," Resolution to Write, will run from 2 January to 13 February, and will include eight scheduled "Breather Days," to allow time to reassess and flesh out your story as you go.
There's no set minimum of words needed to "win" the challenge, nor is it limited to novel length work, or even fiction -- just the crafting of stories, and the building of a lifelong writing habit in a sustainable way. From Valentine's Day through the end of December, community discussion is open to literary analysis of plots in general.
Because there are no forbidden topics or genres, the community should be viewed with discretion.

communal_creators is a comm for creative people of ALL stripes to come, encourage one another, and be encouraged.
The comm runs a mini-round in March and a larger 30 day one in September/October (feel free to browse our last rounds). There is an associated low-key Discord and an optional collection hosted on SquidgeWorld.
We will be hosting our second full round, from September 15th to October 14th, with provisions made to accommodate holidays in that period. Our sign ups are open up to the 15th.
What kind of activity counts? Archiving creative endeavors on other platforms, podfic, vidding, fiber crafts, art, writing fic or meta... if you count it as creative effort, we will too.
reference_library is a project aimed at collecting useful links, resources, and materials to help one another out. Members are encouraged to drop links of useful content on the main topic pages, to be added to the lists as the mod (me) can do so. (Often once a week, when new material is available.)
Our sticky page has the topics, and each topic page is linked there. As of today (YAY!) the topics are broken out into sub-categories as well to make them easier to search through.
Please come join, and bring your favorite links to help other people!

We will be hosting a mini-round in March, from the first to the fourteenth, that will just be for tracking time averaged over the period.

reference_library is a crowd-sourced collection of helpful, useful, or informative links on several subjects. This grew out of a project originated on my personal Discord, and I realized we had collected a lot of knowledge.
This sticky post covers the ground rules and links to each of the categories I currently have mapped out.
Feel free to browse, and share your helpful links where others can access them!
Sometimes NaNoWriMo is an inconvenient time for fandom and original creators alike.
communal_creators is going to be running a 30-day event to encourage that kind of creativity, in multiple formats this fall.
Come see Communal Creators, a place to band together to help each other start, work on, or finish a project in September and October. Why those months? Because while National Novel Writing Month in November made sense, once upon a time, it is a very inconvenient time to many people. Backing the timeline out to after school starts but before the push of the holidays for many was my intention.
As I did realize the dates chosen overlapped High Holidays, we have added a provision to accommodate those affected in our official creation period!
little_details is a community where you can ask questions about those little (or not so little) details you want to get right.
Do you want to know whether your medieval characters would have toast for breakfast?
Do you need help deciding on an injury that will provide just the right amount of hurt for your hurt/comfort fanfic?
Does your character need to curse in French, but you don't know French?
All types of questions and all types of fiction writers are welcome - whether you're in fandom or not, whether you write novels or short stories or screenplays or RP campaigns or something else. All types of questions are welcome as well.
This community used to be big on LiveJournal, where it was a wonderful resource, and we're bringing it back here. The more the merrier (and the more people who can provide answers), so even if you're not a writer and don't want to post questions, you can also join if you're interested in answering them. The community can be fun to just read, too. Come check us out!
rainbowfic is a challenge-based community for original fiction on Dreamwidth. The challenges can be explored at rainbowlists . Come on by, check things out, introduce yourself, and pick your challenges if you're so inclined. We also have the rainbowlounge for conversation and games, including themed discussions every two weeks about what you're writing
I'm continually trying to improve things, so if you've been and left, maybe check it out again. If you haven't been before, we're queer-friendly and easy-going.
