vsynthrecs is a new comm for recommending songs, art, and other such works featuring voice synthesizers! (Such as Vocaloids / Utauloids / Synthesizer V / Neutrino / ETC.)
It's not over for the My Little Pony community ponyville_trot. The new series is set in a post-apocalyptic Equestria and it's pretty bad. There are two concurrent and overlapping animated ventures in this horse play, a high end 3-D Netflix release, called Make Your Mark, featuring models that look like a cross between paw patrol and Planet of the Apes, and a low end 2-D YouTube weekly release called Tell Your Tale, which is in full bean mouth design without much of anything else going when it comes to style or art. Any overarching story line, motivation or common journey companionship plots have been totally thrown out the window. Stuff just happens and the two series contradict each other.
Curious but loathe to waste time actually watching the latest eye-candy advertising brushable horse toys? Come to ponyville_trot and read the write-up on each episode as they appear. There will be snark.
ponyville_trot also features the best fanart, music, games and books because that ride never ends.
This has been an annual thing since 2011 and great for toning those drawing skills, sweating buckets trying to make the deadline, stimulating brain function trying to twist those story prompts into something a neophyte can draw, kicking the skilled out of their comfort zone and seeing what the scores of other artists have come up with.
This is the Newbie Artist Training Grounds of the My Little Pony fandom, rebroadcast here on Dreamwidth in the ponyville_trot community and running for the entire month of June. Don't worry about your skill level, all skill levels are fine, even stick figure ponies. All visual media is cool too, photography, blender 3-D, clay, papercraft, crochet, animation, collage... Go for it! Even if you don't have time or the equipment to draw or upload an image, you are still welcome to drop by and browse the galleries (I post links) and see the ones I particularly liked. Or repost your favorites! It's a community, not my blog.
The ride doesn't stop there. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic spawns fan fictions, music, games and conventions as well as visual arts, all year round. There is also the toy company's post apocalyptic refresh of the franchise coming this September, which, might be good? I hope? Tune in to find out!
ponyville_trot is a community dedicated to all things My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The titular series, which lasted for nine seasons, has drawn to a close, but the art, music and literature keeps on rolling. Come take a look. We have tags.
Dreamwidth has a community dedicated to all things My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and that community is ponyville_trot. Since 2011 it has been the place to go for episode links and discussion and a showcase for art, music, news and more. After nine seasons, the Friendship is Magic aspect of My Little Pony animation has come to an end, but it lives on in comics, fan fiction, music, art, games and fan conferences.
ponyville_trot is also a resource. There is a variety of links in the community sticky, including sites that print and sell MLP:FiM fanfiction in dead-tree format. The tags ease pulling up posts by interest. There is Princess tier art to see and music. Much music, of nearly all genres, except maybe death metal, opera, Gregorian chant and all percussion. (Not that there isn't any death metal to choose from, it's just that the singing is... off.) Each song usually includes a download link.
ponyville_trot has a lot of members but it needs more contributors! I'm sifting through years of music to find and post the gems and I pass along artworks that catch my eye as well, but there is so much more than should get shared. Such as fan fiction, photography, games and craft-works. Please join! Bring your ideas! Report and review pony-inspired fan-works! Share your own!
The My Little Pony brand is evolving into something called "Pony Life". It looks goofy, but hopefully it will be worthwhile. We'll find out in early 2020 and of course there will be links on ponyville_trot.
city_pop is a community for those who love the music of a bygone era in Japan's musical journey of the 1970s-1980s during the "bubble economy" (バブル景気, baburu keiki). Have you heard of the song, "Plastic Love on YouTube and want to learn about other songs, albums, artists, etc.? Are you familiar with a City Pop sample via Future Funk or is into the Vaporwape aesthetic? This is the place for you! Feel free to join in on the discussions, post a review of your favorite City Pop album and a lot more.
A place for crafters, artists, coders, and creators of any variety to share their projects. Weekly (or more) posts to sit down and create! Promote your on-going projects, livestreams, or recently finished works.
Whether you code, draw, stitch, vid, podcast, edit, or anything else, you're welcome!
I'm co-mod of a music community on FB that I really enjoy, so I thought I'd bring the idea here. I just started a community called beautifulmechanical for the purpose of just sharing (through links, embeds, etc.) music that we love. We'll also have themes and challenges. It's meant to be a laid back place to talk about music, all kinds of music, and get each other excited about our favorites. The name comes from a song I really love by a group called yMusic.
Recently a new community called allbingo opened. It encourages people to make and share stuff through creative bingo. Previous bingo communities have focused on a single fest. This one is open to players from any fest or none. Here you can play a card from a defunct or closed fest, link a bingo from a currently active fest, generate a custom-made card to play, talk about your bingo activities, and much more.
allbingo is open to all fandoms and to original work. Fills may be made with fiction, nonfiction, poetry, artwork, crafts, music, or pretty much anything else people can make. You can discuss creative bingo as a game, your related hobbies, socialize with other players of creative bingo, and so forth.
Currently we have 3 affiliated communities, links to many other bingo fests, 31 subscribers, and 66 interests. Members are posting introductions and bingo claims. Several folks have tried out the tools for making customized bingo cards. Come make some new friends who are into bingo!
Please share this announcement with anyone you think might be interested. The wider the range of bingo topics and activities featured, the more fun allbingo will be.

Have you ever been interested in a new genre of music, but aren't sure where to begin? Or do you feel like your favourite band need more exposure? Then this is the comm for you!
listenhere is a music "primer" community-- rather like a pairing or fandom primer, the posts in this community introduce you to a new artist or genre of music that you might previously never have explored before. You're welcome to lurk, post or comment as you want!
It's been a while since Dreamwidth first started, so I dug around for some of the communities that I thought people might not be aware of and would be nice if they had some more activity happening.
gazepic_a_day is a new community here on DW, for fans of the Japanese rock/visual kei band the GazettE. Like the name implies, we post a picture of the band (almost) every day!
At gazepic_a_day we post all kinds of pictures: live pics, photoshoots, backstage pics, polaroids, gorgeous pics, action pics, dorky pics... :) If you're a fan of the GazettE, subscribe to the comm and get yourself a daily dose of the GazettE!
There's a community by the same name over on LJ, and this mirror comm has been sanctioned by the owner of that.
Two communities for fans of Japanese Visual Kei band the GazettE!
We started these communities last year as part of the "Three Weeks for Dreamwidth" effort to bring more fun and activity to Dreamwidth, and we're still having fun: gazette_fans for general GazettE fan activities, and gazette_fanfic for fanfic and fanart focusing on the Gaze-men.
If you're a fan of the GazettE , come join us at gazette_fans and gazette_fanfic! We'd love to meet more of you! We're a small but friendly bunch of people! :|D
And don't be afraid to drop into 'old' posts to comment. We're always happy to talk about the GazettE! :)
choralmusic is a community for all lovers of choral music - listeners, singers, musicians, conductors, composers, and anyone else who appreciates the sound of the human voice in concert.
Any member is free to post reviews of performances or recordings, talk about what they're singing at the moment, or what they'd like to be singing, ask for recommendations for new pieces, discuss the trials and tribulations of belonging to a choir... so long as it's related to choral music, post it!
