First up, [personal profile] dingsi has an index for community recommendations over on their dw. Take a look at it as well as [profile] rydra_wrong's original post on the Rec O Matic where you post about communities you want to find, recommend others to folks etc.

Secondly, please tag your posts! It makes it much easier for people to find you later.

Third, the follow fest was quite successful with a number of communities mentioned. Please do check them out and keep adding comments!

Hi!

Friendly reminder, the rules state no icon communities are to be promoted here. If you do post here, I'll just delete it. If I have to do it more than once for a person, you'll get banned.

If I have to do it a lot, for lots of people? The community gets moderated and that makes me sad!

So please - no personal icon communities

Icon communities that are teams of icon makers are okay!

Thanks!

Edit an unofficial affiliate has offered to help out. Please go to [community profile] promoting and you are welcome to post your icon communities there!

There have been a few questions about tags are used in the community, so I'm going to try and give a general definition of the tags that exist so they can be helpful to everyone. Please do remember to use tags as that is one of the easiest ways for people to find your community later.

First up, please use ~needs_tags if you are sure that one of the existing tags doesn't work. Also please include a line in your post about what kind of tag you might think you need (so I don't have to completely guess). Keep in mind that tags are supposed to be fairly broad categories. I want to keep the tags list manageable.

Some of the tags I have not defined because the name itself seems to define it, if you have any questions please do comment and I'll amend the post!

* academic
* accessibility
* admin - admin and moderator posts
* adult_content -adult issues (this does not just mean sexual topics)
* animals
* books
* cooking
* crafting - handcrafts
* culture -
* dreamwidth_specific

Since fandom is so large and crosses so many things, I've made tags for each source. So for a tv show, please use the tag fandom_tv. If the fandom is in more than one source (for example X-Men is a comic and a film) then use all the tags that apply.

* fandom_actor
* fandom_anime
* fandom_book
* fandom_comic
* fandom_film
* fandom_game
* fandom_general
* fandom_manga
* fandom_movie
* fandom_music
* fandom_tv

* games
* hobby
* humor
* locality - for communities based around a physical real world location
* medical
* meme - all different kinds of memes
* misc
* music
* psychology
* religion
* sports
* tech
* trans
* writing
* ~needs_tags

Hi everyone,

Please tag your entries. Community search does not work and short of scrolling back through all of the entries there is no easy way to find your shiny new communities if you don't use tags

Thanks!

Welcome to Dreamwidth's Community Promotions Community (we occasionally visit the redundant department of redundancy). We hope that you are enjoying your stay here at Dreamwidth Airlines. Don't forget to buckle your cross-posting applications and keep your pixels inside the browser at all times.

Oh, and don't forget to use tags when you are promoting your communities. It makes it much easier for people to find you in the tag list.

Hi!

I hope you are all enjoying Dreamwidth's closed beta and getting settled in.

Open Posting:

As part of that process this community is open to posting by anyone with an account. You don't need to belong to the community (right now) to post about your bright shiny new gathering place. The community is also currently set that posts aren't held in a moderation queue. I hope to keep it this way indefinitely but we'll see how it goes as the greater Dreamwidth community grows.

Finding a Community:
There are two ways to find a community right now. The first is via the wiki which is broken out into broad subjects. The second is via tags list.

Kick back, get comfy and enjoy Dreamwidth,

Jamie

PS. It's Dreamwidth not DreamWidth. :)
