brackets is a community for tournaments of every kind. Silly, serious, fannish, and non-fannish. We'll have a tournament every month or so where the DW public can submit their picks and vote in polls to determine the results of the tournament. A full explanation of what the heck we're talking about is here.

We're giving everyone a couple of weeks to start watching the community and then we will kick off our first tournament, a battle to determine the Ultimate Villian, on Thursday, April 15th (no, Americans, the IRS is not one of the choices). You'll have a week (until April 23rd) to submit your picks for this bracket and then voting will begin. All you have to do to get involved is add the community to your watch list--anyone can participate by submitting picks or by voting in the regular polls. The more the merrier, and the more definitive the results are! You don't have to submit picks to vote, and you don't have to participate every time. Just add to your watch list and if you like the idea, tell your friends.

I just formed a community for academics (for the widest possible definition thereof--professors, grad students, undergrads, university and library and research employees, etc), called academia.
