ante_up_losers is hosting a big bang - with a twist.

This big bang is not fic only. Anyone can create any large piece and submit it as a bang work.

That's right - any type of work can be a big bang. Art, podfic, rec sets, meta, picspams - the list goes on and on. If you can think it up, you can do it in a big bang way! Size requirements for the media we could think of are listed here, but if we didn't mention a type of fanwork you'd like to make as a big bang, please Contact A Mod and we can discuss size and submission requirements.

In addition - we want all the big bangs to have rewards for their work, so there will be complementary pieces as well. Complements may also be any sort of fanwork. From fic to poetry to meta to comics to podfic to graphics and anything else you can think of. Size requirements for the complements are listed here. Again, if we haven't mentioned a type of fanwork you'd like to make as a complement, please Contact A Mod and we can discuss size and submission requirements.

Finally, to round out the teams, we are recruiting enthusiasm experts. If you enjoy being a Beta, a cheerleader, a whipcracker, an Alpha or any other type of random squee generator, efficiency expert, or general helper, we want you to join in the fun and help our teams get all those glorious fanworks completed!

Please check out the party post to see the ideas that have been flying around, or to add your on ideas/bang/complement/cheerleading offer. If you want to do a bang, the bang sign-ups are live, so you can go right ahead and post! Complement and cheerleader sign-ups will begin next week, so we can make sure all the teams have complements.

sixathon, a Doctor Who ficathon community focusing on the Sixth Doctor, is newly imported to Dreamwidth and about to start signups for a new round of fanfic! The rules and dates are already posted, and the signup sheet will go up tomorrow.

The comm is open on both Dreamwidth and Livejournal, and welcomes writers from anywhere on the internet. If you're a fan of Doctor Who -- any era, any characters; time travel is involved, after all, and anything can happen -- and are interested in writing and reading fic involving Six, c'mon over and take a look!

ladies_lupercalia is a community set up to celebrate and encourage all kinds of fanworks about lady werewolves [whether or not they're werewolves in their canon (It's an AU friendly place! AUs are loved!)] for Lupercalia. (There's a fest happening!)

fandom_level is a place to challenge yourself by taking a gaming view on fanworks. What do I mean by a gaming view? Why, leveling up, of course! Here's the idea:

Each trope or kink on this infamous list by Anna S is part of a 'task' to get to your next Level Up event. Each level requires 8 completed 'tasks', giving us 49 levels (the last is only 4 tasks.) Each level achieved earns you a badge to put on your profile, proclaiming your fannish achievement (because go you!!!)

This is meant to be an inclusive community and should accept most fanwork types including: art, comics, iconsets, banners, LJ/IJ/DW layout codes (profile and journal), vids, fanfiction, crafts/baking, meta, podfic, fanmixes, filk, and meta!podcasts. If your means of expression has been missed, drop me a comment. I can't claim to know everything out there *wink*

Happy Bertidays is an anonymous exchange of Adam Lambert fandom creative works for the end-of-the-year holiday season. These works may focus on any member of "Bertdom" - Adam Lambert and his periphery (significant others, family, friends, band members, dancers, etc.) - and may be any rating, genre, or pairing, as long as they focus on someone in the fandom. Participants will be matched based on specified preferences, and will have from October 28 to December 30 to write a fic (minimum 500 words), make a piece of artwork, or create a set of icons for their secret recipient.

Sign-ups open September 20th and close October 26th. Assignments will be sent out October 28th. Pinch-hitter sign-ups will open November 10th. Creations are due by December 30th. Works will be revealed January 1st. Creators will be revealed January 8th.

cottoncandy_bingo is a magical land filled with glitter, rainbows, feathers, and sparkling unicorns. Or, in more serious terms, Cotton Candy Bingo is a bingo challenge for people who love warm, schmoopy, fluffy happiness. We have a lot of prompts, allow a wide variety of fills, and just want people to have a good time. Yay? Yay!

Like other bingo challenges, you will receive a 5 x 5 card filled with prompts: 24 randomly generated, and a wild card in the center. Once you receive your card, your goal is to achieve a bingo by the end of the first round by writing or making fluffy, happy things. A little angst is okay, as long as there's a significant amount of fluff to go with it. Silliness is fine. Idfic is fine. Friendship, femslash, slash, het, polyamory, or even things focusing on a single person are fine. All fandoms are welcome. Non-fandom submissions are welcome. If you can dream it, make it happen, and make it fit a prompt, odds are, it's allowed.

July Mini Prompts | Contact a Mod

The point of

poet_inspired is to celebrate creative contributions other than fiction writing. Through July, small prompts from the featured poet Yehuda Amichai will be posted to serve as inspiration for vids, fanmixes, podfic, fanart, icons, wallpapers, graphics, knitting patterns, photo collages, macaroni castles, picspams, meta, and more! If it's not fiction writing, we would love to see it featured on the comm.

Fandom and original contributions are equally welcome.

fem_thoughts is having our 3rd Annual Femslash Mini Meta Fest.

Mini meta is like regular meta, only mini. The aim isn't to end up with thousands of words of meta, but somewhere around 300 words. (Although if you get inspired and write thousands of words no one will complain and similarly if you only have 100 words in you for the topic that is fine as well.) This, hopefully, creates much less pressure and allows more people to post what is on their minds without worrying about it being the most perfect thing ever.

fund_jcollins is a fandom charity auction for the benefit of the Jim Collins Foundation.

From the Jim Collins Foundation website:

"The Jim Collins Foundation raises money to fund gender-confirming surgeries for those transgender people who need surgery to live a healthy life, but have no ability to pay for it themselves. We recognize that for those people who require surgery for a healthy gender transition, lack of access to surgery may result in hopelessness, depression, and sometimes, suicide. The Jim Collins Foundation is a community-based initiative promoting the self-determination and empowerment of all transgender people"

The auction closes on Wednesday March 7 (both bidding and offers are welcome untill then).
