Dreamwidth is still new enough that there are communities we would all LIKE to see here, but haven't yet come across. The problem is that not all of us who have a wish for a certain community are able to or want to, create it ourselves. It may be for medical reasons, time constraints, lack of experience, etc., but the point is, many of us have great ideas for a community, and interest in joining one, but can't find the one we want.

This community, ironically, was created by someone who did not want to run a community due to bad wrists minimizing online time, but bit the bullet to get the ball rolling. ^_^

What is Hawaii Five-0 Land?
H50 Land is a challenge based community inspired by the greats like jjverse and whedonland. You play on one of three teams: Team H50, Team HPD, & Team SEALs. Once you apply and have been placed on a team you take part in challenges, could be anything from graphics, writing, games, to just plain luck there are lots of options! As the game goes on every team will gather points and at the end of a round the team with the most points will win glory, honor and a nifty banner. Then all the points will be gone and we start again :) The current round-info will be in the sidebar.

Ladies' Big Bang is a female-centric multimedia big bang challenge that welcomes all types of creators, including but not limited to: artists (3D, 2D and sequential), crafters, graphics creators, iconners, picspammers, screencappers, reccers, resource list creators, primer/promo creators, reviewers, meta writers, poets, script/screenplay writers, fiction writers, audioficcers, fanmixers, singers, and vidders. We also welcome original work in all of the above categories.

In other words, all types of creators can sign up to create a big bang entry and will be eligible to receive a complementary fanwork, not just fiction writers.

For the purposes of this challenge a woman is someone who self-identifies as a woman/as female or someone for whom femaleness/womanness is a component of their identity. This of course includes characters who are trans, intersex or genderqueer. Agender characters whose bodies are perceived as female are also welcome.

Hey, folks! So, fandom-oriented folks are often a lot better at gathering and organizing places to hang out, and I know I've seen non-fandom folks feel left out sometimes. So, for 3W4DW I've decided to start up an idea I had a long time ago but didn't promote:

Basically, if you are non-fandom or have a non-fandom journal, become a member of that community. Even if you don't want to subscribe to it! That way, other non-fandom people will see your public posts pop up on the member's posts page. You can also make posts to the main community trying to find certain journal reading recommendations or just chatting.

threeweeks_supernatural! This is a community created to celebrate Supernatural and CWRPF fandoms on Dreamwidth during the

three_weeks_for_dw fest!

This year we have several scheduled posts planned, including a friending meme (April 25), a comment fanwork meme (April 29), a kink meme (May 6), and a love meme (May 13). We also encourage everyone to join and post their own Supernatural and CWRPF Three Weeks for Dreamwidth material!

We also plan to have scheduled rec posts throughout the fest, and we are currently seeking reccers to share their favourite DW-hosted Supernatural and CWRPF fanworks. The rec set only needs to include 3 fanworks, and we welcome recs of any kind of fanwork! For more information and to sign up, please check out this post.

Every year, there's a community on LJ where users can leave messages for that special someone(s) just in time for Valentine's Day. Except this year, it's somehow failed to happen. So I've set up a version on Dreamwidth.

The concept is simple - find the appropriate post in the comm and leave a message, anon or not, for someone you like. Then spread the word about the comm's existence. Hopefully, your recipient will see it. You may even be lucky enough to get left a few messages yourself!

For those unfamiliar with the term, think of 'haikai' as an extended form of 'haiku': alternating stanzas of 5-7-5 and 7-7 syllable lines. (Historically, haiku evolved from the starting verse of haikai.)

The fun begins when one person posts a stanza(s), and another starts a comment thread with a new stanza. Thus, the more the merrier!
