July Mini Prompts | Contact a Mod

The point of [community profile] poet_inspired is to celebrate creative contributions other than fiction writing. Through July, small prompts from the featured poet Yehuda Amichai will be posted to serve as inspiration for vids, fanmixes, podfic, fanart, icons, wallpapers, graphics, knitting patterns, photo collages, macaroni castles, picspams, meta, and more! If it's not fiction writing, we would love to see it featured on the comm.

Fandom and original contributions are equally welcome.

Hello! I have recently created a new comm for people who are interested in bartering/trading homemade and handmade items with others. This is not a community for buying and selling, but for bartering/trading only.

[community profile] bartering

Community rules are available on the comm profile.

Please introduce yourself when you sign up and let people know what you're offering/looking for.

This is a very small comm right now, and will only be successful if lots of people join and get involved. So if you're interested in (legal!) gray-market type dealings, freecycling, bartering, trading, art, baking, and all those other sorts of things, please join us!

Greetings! Today I am here to pimp out a brand spanking new community created for home soap makers of all levels - but especially for beginners! Tired of asking a question and being told "Look it up" instead of being directed to links or simply having your question answered? We're friendly and we smell pretty and all questions will be given a decently thought-out response.

[community profile] simply_soap is open for business, and we are waiting to meet and greet you!

I started a community for fairy/faerie fashions of all sorts, [community profile] faerie_fashion . It is NOT for selling, but for showing anything that seems to you to fit into the description of fairy-type fashion, clothing made of nature bits, wings and dresses and whatever else. Please join and show us things of that sort which catch your attention!

I'd like to invite soapcrafters, soapmakers, prospective soapmakers, and other interested folks to [community profile] soap.

Discussions about all kinds of soapcrafting can be included - cold process, hot process, melt and pour, and rebatching. If you make other body products for fun, by all means come and join in. (No commercial advertising of any kind.)

For cold process starters, I have a four-part photo walkthrough series on how I make cold process soap.

Enjoy!

The Sewing Circle is a brand-new place to go to discuss fandom-related costuming, costume creation, full cosplay, Plot Bunnies brought about by fandom wardrobe, and original creations that are fandoms unto themselves. The Circle is all-fandom inclusive - All are Welcome, regardless of race, creed, species, or fandom ident. We don't care if you haven't ever touched a needle or do professional convention costuming - feel free to join us!

If you like to make things or build things or create physical items, we would love to have you join us in [community profile] creativity!

The goal is to have a place where people can discuss their project plans, be inspired by other people's accomplishments, and share what has been made.

We want to hear from the people who do any kinds of crafts or art and those who do many kinds. If you have been waiting for somewhere that welcomes cross-disciplinary works, think [community profile] creativity.

Hey there!

One of the biggest things I missed about LJ was its active journalling community - in particular, the Embodiment challenge. The Embodiment challenge is to keep at least one paper journal for an entire year - in the community, we share photos, support each other throughout the challenge, give tips and tutorials and other goodies~

Now, a dear friend of mine, who also missed the comm, has brought this challenge to DreamWidth!

[community profile] embodiment_dw

We also have a journallers' friending-meme to get you started!

If you're into journalling, diaries or scrapbooking, please consider joining us ♥

Thank you!

I'd love to see more soapcrafters, soapmakers, prospective soapmakers, and other interested folks in [community profile] soap.

Discussions about all kinds of soapcrafting can be included - cold process, hot process, melt and pour, and rebatching. If you make other body products for fun, by all means come and join in. No commercial advertising of any kind.

We've been as quiet as a mouse lately, but I've just started a four-part photo walkthrough series on how I make cold process soap, to kick things off again.

Aloha! One of these communities is not like the other, but all are very nice.

[community profile] classicfilm: Talking about about movies. Talking about actors. Talking about directors. Sharing classic-film-related events! You get the picture.

[community profile] fleecefiberyarn: Do you raise fiber animals, dye, spin, card, knit, etc.? Do you like to sell the fiber-related stuff you make? Do you like to buy fiber-related stuff? Well, you might want to check out this community. (Please do, and please post--it's been a little quiet!)

[community profile] dyeing: Fiber and fiber-related items, that is. Not so much one's own hair.

[community profile] spinning: Do you like to spin yarn? Do you want to learn how to spin yarn? Well, this is probably the community for you.

Mods: can we also have a tag for movies/film that isn't fandom-related? :)

Interested in making historical clothing and accessories, particularly from before 1600? Like looking at other people's projects?

You should join [community profile] sca_attire!

It's been around for a while, but I'm really trying to get it off the ground now. To that end, there's a post asking what you want from the community and one asking about your favorite periods.

There will be regular discussion questions and resource posts on different topics, and you're always welcome to post your questions, tips, project diaries, or anything else related to historical clothing and accessories. Although the primary focus is "SCA period" (c. 500-1600ish CE), earlier and a bit later is fine, too, and you definitely don't need to be an SCA member or even a reenactor. And of course clothing from cultures outside of Europe is definitely welcome!

You might also be interested in [community profile] historicalembroidery, although there's nothing there just yet.
