A community for icon makers of all fandoms, to join and participate in a monthly icontest that consists of making 20 icons in 20 days. Of those 20 icons 10 follow a specific theme, 5 are grouped in a category and the remaining 5 fall under the artist's choice. And while that is the main objective of the community, those users who just want to look at a variety of icons and at the end of the month help in voting for those icons they felt suited best the themes are more than welcomed (and encouraged) to subscribe to the community =)

I'm also currently trying to organize a grassroots movement to support the site. I'd like to find ways to promote site usage, help the site recover from the recent payment system difficulties, and celebrate the anniversary of Open Beta launch (April 30). Right now, it's all still in the early stages (brainstorming post here), but, among other things, I'd like to run a contest in the community and encourage other community owners to run contests. Ideas, input, and general participation greatly appreciated.

Come along, check us out, spread the love, and help make Dreamwidth even more awesome.

fandom20in20, it's a new community for all icon makers, the sign ups will close on Wednesday so if you want to participate in our first challenge of making 20 icons in 20 days I invite you all to come and join us!

You can claim any fandom or element of it (film, tv show/anime, comic/manga, artist, band, actor/actresses, and any type of pairing) for which you will have to make 10 themed icons, a set of 5 icons that follows a category set and then you will also have five icons to do with as you wish. And I assure you 20 icons in 20 days is not as many as it might seem at first look, in fact you probably will end up with a surplus of icons you can't submit due to the limit of 20 icons ;)

With the Open Beta anniversary coming up, and, with it, the very cool three weeks for Dreamwidth project, it seemed like it might be worth resurrecting

dwrocks. It's an unofficial community for posting about anything and everything (big or small) having to do with the awesomeness of Dreamwidth.

What's your favorite community? Post here in comments with a favorite community (you don't have to run it, or even belong) and sell it to your fellow DWeziens!

Go post in those communities, even if it is a 'are we still breathing?' sort of post. Ask a provocative question, post a fiction snippet, complain about your knitting, grouse about politics. Whatever gets you excited.

Go comment in those communities! Conversations are what makes a journaling service like Dreamwidth healthy.
